Set in a charming 18th century country house hotel, this Kent venue oozes charm with its acres of beautiful gardens, a picturesque lake and an award-winning spa.
Rooms
If you want to escape boring hotels that have generic looking rooms, then Rowhill Grange will wow your socks off. Each bedroom has been individually designed with personally selected fabrics and elegant solid-wood furnishings. You will certainly get a good night's sleep in either the four-poster or sleigh beds which have been fitted with deep sprung mattresses, plush pillows and Egyptian cotton sheets. For guests who want to lounge in the bath tub, the spacious en-suite bathroom will not disappoint as many are lined with exquisite Italian marble. Although a romantic retreat should be a time when you want to switch off from the world, those who are addicted to their phones and laptops will be pleased to know all rooms have access to wifi.
Food
Everyone knows it can be a nightmare booking a restaurant on Valentine’s Day. Instead of going into London, why not take a few steps down to the hotel’s refurbished restaurant RG's, which sits under a glass atrium. The pistachio and cream coloured décor is the perfect setting for a romantic meal for two. The food is fit for royalty which is no surprise as new executive chef, Luke Davies, has worked for the late Queen Mother. The restaurant's menu is jam packed with seasonally inspired dishes - with much of the produce sourced from local suppliers. Traditional favourites are in the grill menu, which features timeless classics such as Romney Marsh lamb, and dry aged steaks. There is also a daily seafood catch and a selection of vegetarian dishes.
During the day, guests can also indulge with a spot of afternoon tea which is served daily from 2.30pm to 5.30pm. Visitors can enjoy a decadent selection of home baked pastries, sandwiches, freshly made scones with thick clotted cream and jam.
Add a glass of Champagne to add to the proceedings for the ultimate indulgence.
Spa
The hotel is centered around the Utopia Spa, so do not be surprised if you spot guests walking around in their robes during the day. The Totally Spoiled package costs £255 per person – it is not cheap, but worth every penny. It includes treatments such as the Heavenly Totally Quenched and Drenched Facial, which is a 85 minute anti-aging treatment that helps dehydrated neglected skin. It combines powerful anti-oxidants lotions and potions to help fight the aging process and uses nourishing ingredients to replace lost elasticity in the skin. The package also includes Rocks of the Med Massage, to revive you from head to toe in 70 minutes, as well as a thermal stone massage which relaxes aching muscles. This is then all topped off with either a luxury manicure or pedicure. It really is the perfect way to feel rejuvenated.
Alongside the treatments, the spa houses a pool, waterfalls, bubble tubs and saunas to help couples unwind. Both men and women can preen themselves for dinner at the hairdressing salon. For those who want to maintain their exercise regime while on holiday, then there is a fully equipped gymnasium and fitness classes.
Cost
An overnight stay at the hotel, with dinner and a selected treatment costs £149 per person on the basis of two people sharing. For more information call Rowhill Grange on 01322 615136.
