Thai Green Curry - Blue Elephant Restaurant
With 13 restaurants dotted across the globe, the chefs at Blue Elephant are obviously doing something right to draw in the punters.

Atmosphere:

As soon as you step off the London pavement and walk into Blue Elephant, you are instantly transported to Thailand. The restaurant creates a beautiful world filled with lush plants, trickling fountains and fish swiming in an indoor river.

The scent of tropical flowers mingle with the heady aroma of exotic herbs and spices from the Far East which truly dazzles the senses.

The food is dished out on clean but rustic looking plates which makes you feel as if you are dinning in a traditional Thai home.

The friendly waiters also enhance the atmosphere as they are welcoming and full of helpful suggestions when you can not chose what you want from the menu.

Food:

Although the food is a bit pricey – just one bite is all it takes to convince you that it is worth every penny. There is a selection on offer for starters.

The Buffalo Satay , Foie Gras, Grilled Aubergine Salad, or Mieng Kham are all equally good, but I would personally recommend the Pearls of the Blue Elephant as it allows you to sample a variety of treats from the kitchen including chicken, prawns and vegetables dishes.

Mains are the star of the show. Fish lovers will adore Soft Shekl Crab which is crisp fried and tossed with fresh chilli paste, young green peppercorns and Thai herbs. Visitors can not go wrong with the classic Green Chicken Curry which is cooked with free range chickens and freshly pounded green herbs, coconut, Thai aubergine and sweet basil leaves. The Massaman Kae is a must for meat lovers as the lamb melts in your mouth. But if you can not make up your mind then opt for the Royal Platter which contains a sumptuous variety of dishes recalling the royal banquets of the King and I.

There is also a selection of yummy rice to accompany your curry. While the Sticky Rice, or Steamed Rice are delicious – I would recommend the Royal Freid Rice which is stir-fried jasmine rice with crab meat, shrimps, eggs and vegetables – truly amazing!

Chocolate lovers will be pleased to note that they are fully catered for when it comes to desserts. The Mousse au Chocolat includes rich dark and white Belgian chocolate and is simple but sweet. Those with a sweet tooth should also try Ginger Crème Brulée or Jasmine Cake. But for an authentic Thai experience opt for the Kanom Thai which is a selection of four Thai desserts.

Cost: Starters range from £6 to £13, mains vary from £15.50 to £30, and desserts are from £6.50 to £8.50.

This restaurant is my favourite. It's a tad expensive but is worth it as a one off treat like for birthdays or anniversaries
